ASE Calendar for 2009 provides opportunities at all levels

The 2009 multi-sport calendar in New England will be enhanced by the inclusion of new triathlon series, targeted at a range of endurance athletes and including a variety of distances, challenges and exciting venues. From 2003-2005, American Sports Events staged events throughout Sourthern New England. In 2009, we will re-introduce our popular Try the Tri series and some new Olympic Distance events, as well as a brand new duathlon series called, Do the Du. Our calendar is not yet finalized and will provide complete details, soon. Check out the complete event calendar, here. Please note that all events are tentative at this time.

The Try the Tri series will launch in June and is intended to introduce the sport to those interested in expanding their event repertoire, while providing a platform for the seasoned triathlete. It offers great time trial, training, brick or even "grudge match" opportunities for the experienced athlete, too. The swim is in a warm clean lake, (wet suits allowed but are not necessary). These events are non-competitive and split times are not recorded. The goal is to provide an experience that is instructive and motivational.

The New England Olympic series utilizes the Olympic Distance (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) as a standard in each event. In addition to exploiting the unique natural resources of the New England states, the series is a great opportunity for the experienced triathlete to "bump up" to a longer distance or to participate in multiple events during the season (discounts are offered for multiple event registration).

These medium distance events will use ChampionChip timing to provide accurate individual split times across all components of the events, including transition times. We intend to provide awards for age group winners of course, but in support of the "series" theme we will recognize "most improved," and "best series performances," as well.

The Do the Du series is in development. We expect to offer a series of three events in at least two separate locations.
